From Musiland comes the SVDAC05 – a low cost DAC for use in multi-media systems with great
performance. In addition to the usual coax and optical input, the SVDAC05 includes USB and BNC
connections for media centers or as a companion to a computer system or IPOD.
With its LED user interface, you can chose inputs or adjust volume. The display alternates between
volume and input selection and sampling frequency. The volume control controls the output as well as
the headphone amplifier. The rear of the unit has inputs for coax, optical, USB and BNC. Included
with the unit is a headphone amplifier controlled from the front panel volume control
The SVDAC05 contains technology found in only but the most expensive of DACs. The Cirrus Logic
CS4398 chip is the heart of the DAC and provides a sound timbre that is detailed but not bright in the
high end, warm in the midrange and appreciable lower extension. The Cirrus Logic CS4398 chip
provides exquisite clock synchronization and band pass filtering to ensure that digital “grunge” does
not make it to the listener. In addition to all of this, the SVDAC05 also provides a sophisticated AC filter
to ensure that line noise does not make its way through the filtering process and result in
cancellation of information that could cause loss of timbre. The USB interface is process through the
sate of the art TI/Burr Brown PCM2704 chip which uses the latest in USB technology.
