A single-ended triode (SET) vacuum tube electronic amplifier uses a single triode tube (usually an 805 tube, 845, 2A3 or 300B)  to produce an output,  The
benefits of a SET amplifier are:   simplicity - an audio amplifier cannot be much simpler than a Class A single-ended,  overall low harmonic distortion with small
signals (by nature Class A amplifiers do not suffer from crossover distortion) and small roaming of anode bias current does not do anything catastrophic. SET
amplifiers are generally low in power due to their pure class A operation.
